Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) interrupted President Biden as he discussed his late son, Beau Biden, at his first State of the Union address on March 1.

He put 13 in there.— Lauren Boebert (@laurenboebert) I told him directly he did it. When Biden said flag draped coffins I couldn't stay silent. He put 13 in there. Some in the chamber — including Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — seemed to mock the president as he went on with his speech. The Colorado Republican, who wore a black shawl with the words “Drill Baby Drill” on the back, wrote at least 50 tweets lambasting Biden throughout his speech.

Rep. Lauren Boebert outburst on Afghanistan jolts State of the Union (TribLIVE)

WASHINGTON — As President Joe Biden was coming to the end of his State of the Union address Tuesday night, a somber moment about his son's death turned into ...

The comment drew an outpouring of boos from Democrats, adding a note of division to an address that received several moments of robust bipartisan applause. “Our heroic servicemen and women deserve so much better.” But it was when the mention of veterans and providing support for victims of burn pits, a normally bipartisan topic, that Boebert stood to make her case about what many in the GOP see as Biden’s failed withdrawal of U.S. troops in Afghanistan last summer. Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted “you lie!” at President Barack Obama during a joint speech to Congress in 2009. “I couldn’t stay silent,” Boebert tweeted after the speech. Thirteen of them!”

"The State of the Union is not a time for theater, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi treated it by ripping up President Trump’s speech while directly behind him for the cameras. "Why was she not removed & spending her night in jail?" "She told me that Joe Biden killed her son," Boebert said. "The left is p---ed because I called out Biden's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that left 13 of America's finest in a flag-draped coffin," Boebert tweeted Wednesday morning. "Headaches, numbness, dizziness, a cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin." "You put them there — 13 of them!"

Boebert doubled down Wednesday morning, tweeting: “The left is pissed because I called out Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that left 13 of America’s finest in a flag-draped coffin. “Americans remember your sacrifice, and we are forever indebted to you.” “The left is pissed because I called out Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that left 13 of America’s finest in a flag-draped coffin. “It was inappropriate for the family of the fallen that were actually in that chamber,” Crow added. He won’t condemn you because he is a colossal coward.” “She certainly doesn’t understand service and doesn’t understand sacrifices. And I think – I think everybody would agree with that.” A cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin.” Throughout Biden’s speech, Greene was spotted making faces and muttering, particularly when the president spoke about administering COVID-19 vaccines to children. There were other issues I strongly disagree with. There were issues I strongly agreed with. I told him directly he did it.

Rep. Lauren Boebert responded by saying: “I will not shut up'' about what she called Biden's failure in Afghanistan.

Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted “you lie!” at President Barack Obama during a joint speech to Congress in 2009. The television cameras were focused on Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, when the heckling occurred. The incidents were just the latest breach of decorum for a presidential address, an annual event where unruly behavior by lawmakers has become more frequent. Greene, a Georgia freshman and member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, stood up and began chanting, ‘Build the wall! Build the wall!’ in reference to the border wall former President Donald Trump began building during his administration. Thirteen of them!”

Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) taunted the president as he delivered his State of the Union address, at one point chanting “Build the wall!

Boebert and Greene led a chant of “Build the wall!” — a slogan popular among supporters of Trump — when Biden talked about his plans to tackle immigration. Some in the chamber — including Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — seemed to mock the president as he went on with his speech. I will not ‘shut up’ about Biden’s failure in Afghanistan and the 13 heroes we lost because of it.” I told him directly he did it. By the end of Biden’s address, Boebert tweeted, “When Biden said flag-draped coffins I couldn’t stay silent. I think they should just shut up.”

After some presidential heckling, Lauren Boebert has no regrets (MSNBC)

The day after heckling during the State of the Union address, Lauren Boebert isn't issuing an apology, but she is sending a fundraising appeal.

Thirteen years later, our politics has become so poisoned that Boebert didn’t feel any real pressure to show any contrition, and House Republican leaders were content to ignore the whole matter. Of course there were no apparent efforts from House Republican leaders to admonish their member for heckling a sitting president while he honored fallen American troops. Appearing on a conservative radio program yesterday, the GOP congresswoman said “a lot of people” thanked her for Tuesday night’s outburst. The Democrat specifically expressed concern about American troops’ proximity to burn pits, and the ongoing health risks those pits may have created, before referencing the death of his own son, who served in Iraq. But it really wasn’t that long ago when such behavior was at least somewhat controversial. Of course she sent out a new fundraising solicitation.

In response to the furor, Boebert said For Boebert, the controversy is the thing. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility." "While I disagree with the president's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. And shortly after the speech, he apologized.
